Stars and Beyond: Stories of Black Heroes in Aviation

Stars and Beyond is an educational and interactive book of stories about African American pioneers in aviation. It honors their courage and determination that opened the doors of aviation to people of color. n nCasey Grant hails from an Air Force family. She started school in England, lived in Africa for a short time, and spent most of her early years in Rantoul, Illinois, home of the Chanute Air Force base. To pursue her love of travel, she became one of the first African American flight attendants for Delta Air Lines and flew all over the world for thirty-five years. n nWhile working for Delta Air Lines, she also earned a degree in interior design and started a business, E.C.G. Design Interiors. After she retired from Delta, she became producer and host of The Fly Girl Show on BlogTalkRadio.com/TheFlyGirl10 to capture and share more of the stories of Blacks in aviation. She also created an online networking business, MyOtherCareer.com, to help airline personnel and business associates connect and promote their business, products, or services. n nIn 2021, the National Day Archives approved Casey Grant to include February 16 on its calendar as International Black Aviation Day.
