WAI2025 Authors Connect

It’s going to be an aviatrix author take-over at WAI2025 in Denver this year! Leave room in your suitcases for all of the awesome books you’re going to pick up while you’re there.

We have over 30 pioneering fighter pilots, airline pilots, and astronauts, New York Times, USA Today, and literary award-winning authors with books in a variety of genres for all ages. We’ll have a bookshop, author signing schedule, and early Friday morning coffee and author meet & greet that’s complimentary for all conference attendees, an education session on Friday morning moderated by and celebrating our 2025 Women in Aviation International Pioneer Hall of Fame Inductees, a Book Zone at Girls in Aviation Day on Saturday, and four separate author events in town throughout the week in collaboration with The Tattered Cover Bookstore.

Visit the WAI2025 Authors Connect Page for all the details on book shop opening hours, signing times, and the Authors Connect Meet & Greet on Friday morning from 0715 – 0845 in Homestead 3.

Join us on Friday at 1030am in Summit 7 for the Race for Equality in the Sky: Bessie Coleman, Janet Harmon Bragg, and Willa Brown panel moderated by 2025 Women in Aviation International Pioneer Hall of Fame inductee, Theresa Claiborne.

While aviation fever swept the U.S. between WWI and WWII, Black enthusiasts strained against racism for their opportunity to soar. A small cadre of innovative and determined Black men and women drew inspiration and courage from Bessie Coleman’s achievements to start a flying club, build their own airfield south of Chicago, and open the first flight school to instruct both Black and white students. Join Theresa Claiborne as she hosts panel members Gigi Coleman and Beth Powell, coauthors of Queen of the Skies, and Sherri L. Smith and Elizabeth Wein, co-authors of American Wings, to explore their impactful legacy.

The session will be immediately followed by a book signing at the Authors Connect booth from 1130-1pm.

Theresa Claiborne will be inducted into the Women in Aviation International Pioneer Hall of Fame alongside Willa Brown Chappell and Janet Harmon Bragg, the subjects of American Wings who were nominated by Sherri L. Smith and Elizabeth Wein, at the banquet on Friday night.

Join us at Denver’s Tattered Cover Bookstore Aspen Grove and Colfax locations for special author presentations and book signings – these are ticketed events. Click on the images to reserve your spots:
