Endorsed By Earhart
‘Endorsed by Earhart’ is a well-researched project which encompasses the endorsements Amelia made while alive, those which financed her flying. It is not another biography. There are over 150 images, color and black/white, in the book to illustrate the various committments she made. The project started out to document her luggage and trunks but soon turned in to so much more. Amelia’s endorsements include airlines, automobilies, fashion, collector cards, the Longines watch, chocolate bars, malted milk, tomato juice, etc. There is also a section of all the first day covers she sold and signed commenorating her record flights courtesy of the National Postal Museum. The history of her luggage includes that produced by the Orenstein Trunk Company of New Jersey. The chronology of manufacturer is supplemented by labels and a comparison to Baltimore Luggage which purchased the Earhart line from Orenstein in 1962. The appendix presents an assortment of other companies of the same manufacturing era . Jacqueline Cochran luggage is also documented. This first edition is limited to 1,000 copies and is signed by the author.
